Urgent Appointments

If you feel you need an appointment urgently (same or next day) please contact the surgery

The reception team may ask you some questions to ensure you see the right clinician. You do not have to disclose any personal information if you don’t wish to but it will help our team if you can. If you need a same-day appointment you will get one.

Sometimes the receptionist will put you down for a call back from the doctor. Please make sure you are available to take a call and ensure we have up to date contact information for you.

The questions the receptionist will ask may be:

  • Who you are calling about, yourself or someone else?
  • What is the best number that the doctor can call you back on. Preferably this should be a landline number as mobile reception can be poor. The number that you give needs to be one that you will be available on. The receptionist can try to give you some indication of when the call might be but, because these are fitted around clinics, they cannot guarantee exactly when the doctor will call back.
  • The receptionist may then ask you if you would like to explain briefly what the reason for your call is. You can decline to give a reason but if you do give a reason then the doctor is better able to prioritise if needed.
  • If a call back is requested, the doctor will call when they can to discuss your problems and take the appropriate course of action. If the doctor can’t get through they will try again but cannot do this indefinitely. They often will not leave a message because of confidentiality.
